Pinking shears are used to produce ravel-resistant edging in sewing or craftwork.
The zig-zag edge effected by these shears makes a nice finish for seams. The inside blades should be wiped clean frequently to prevent accumulation of lint that can affect the smoothness of feel and cutting of the shears.
